Who Is Jade Anyway?

Jade Adkins is a former special education teacher who started her special education advocacy practice...on accident.

Her passion for advocating for children with special education needs ignited during her time as a classroom teacher.

In 2019, while still teaching, Jade (accidentally) founded Cultivating Unique Minds Advocacy & Consulting. While in the classroom, Jade quickly began to realize a common theme: school districts often fell short in educating parents about their children's rights within the special education system.

With a bachelor's degree in special education and a master's degree in administration and curriculum and instruction, her academic journey provided her with a robust foundation. She's had the privilege of teaching in various settings—rural and urban, private and public—and working with students spanning ages 3 to 22.

As her advocacy business began to grow, Jade recognized another common theme: sometimes parents just need the information made simple. Thus, The Enlightened IEP was born! Even though it's first launch will be in May 2025, Jade has had a dream for this course for 4+ years.

Jade still advocates for families on the day to day, helps school districts stay in compliance, and works in her local area doing speaking engagements and training to help parents understand special education and their rights as parents.
